Types of Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

"EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes, showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences (Maxfield, 2019). EMDR therapy has even been superior to Prozac in trauma treatment (Van der Kolk et al., 2007). Shapiro and Forrest (2016) share that EMDR therapists in 130 countries have successfully treated millions." - from EMDR International Association

Currently, Bradlie Dewald, Lexi Smiley, and John Marquiss are all trained in EMDR Therapy.

The Gottman Method

"Interventions are designed to help couples strengthen their relationships in three primary areas: friendship, conflict management, and creation of shared meaning. Couples learn to replace negative conflict patterns with positive interactions and to repair past hurts. Interventions designed to increase closeness and intimacy are used to improve friendship, deepen emotional connection, and create changes which enhances the couples shared goals. Relapse prevention is also addressed." - From The Gottman Method website

Currently Bradlie Dewald is Level 2 Gottman Method Trained.

Brainspotting

"Brainspotting makes use of this natural phenomenon through its use of relevant eye positions. This helps the Brainspotting therapist locate, focus, process and release a wide range of emotionally and bodily-based conditions. Brainspotting is also a brain-based tool to support the therapy relationship. We believe that Brainspotting taps into and harnesses the body’s natural self-scanning, self-healing ability. When a Brainspot is stimulated, the deep brain appears to reflexively signal the therapist that the source of the problem has been found. Brainspotting can also be used to find and strengthen our natural resources and resilience. Brainspotting is designed as a therapeutic tool that can be integrated into many of the healing modalities. Brainspotting can also be used with performance and creativity enhancement." - from Brainspotting.com

Currently Lexi Smiley is trained in Brainspotting.

Other Therapies

Other therapies our clinicians are trained in include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI).  There may be other therapeutic modalities our clinicians have training in but that are not listed here, feel free to inquire individually with them about what kinds of therapy they may use to help you mend, and reach your goals.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):

"Cognitive behavioral therapy, also called CBT, is a common type of talk therapy. This type of talk therapy is also called psychotherapy. During CBT, you work with a mental health professional such as a psychologist or other licensed therapist in a structured way. You attend a limited number of sessions. CBT helps you become aware of thinking patterns that may be creating issues in your life. Looking at the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors helps you view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. " - The Mayo Clinic

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT):

"Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of talk therapy (psychotherapy). It’s based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but it’s specially adapted for people who experience emotions very intensely. 'Dialectical' means combining opposite ideas. DBT focuses on helping people accept the reality of their lives and their behaviors, as well as helping them learn to change their lives, including their unhelpful behaviors." - The Cleveland Clinic

Motivational Interviewing (MI):

"Motivational interviewing is a counseling method that helps people resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation they need to change their behavior. It is a practical, empathetic, and short-term process that takes into consideration how difficult it is to make life changes.

Motivational interviewing evolved from Carl Roger’s person-centered, or client-centered, approach to counseling and therapy, as a method to help people commit to the difficult process of change." - Psychology Today

Options for Payment

Insurance In-Network

If Mind on the Mend, LLC is a participating provider in your insurance plan and is considered in-network. Insurance plans most often allow a percentage of the Fee Schedule rates, which is known as the “allowable rate.” The rates you pay are based off of your insurance’s allowable rate, not the billed rate. You are responsible for the co-payment, co-insurance, or deductible per your insurance plan, paid at the time of service.

Insurance Out-Of-Network

Mind on the Mend LLC is not a participating provider and is considered out-of-network (OON) with your insurance provider. Your insurance plan may or may not include OON benefits. If OON benefits are included in your plan, MOTM will submit an OON claim on your behalf. However, you are responsible for paying MOTM (by cash, card or check) at each psychotherapy service date. This amount varies and is dependent on your individual plan’s deductible, co-pay, etc.

Private Pay / No Insurance

You are uninsured or choose not to use your insurance. The base rate dependent on service is $160 to $120 for a standard session. If it is determined a sliding fee scale is appropriate, a separate form will be completed. This form is revised annually. You are expected to pay the adjusted rate at the time of service.

No Show and Late Fee

Late Cancellation fee applied if you do not cancel your session 24-hours in advance. No-Show fee applied if there is no notice of missing an appointment. These fees may be waived by your individual clinician at their discretion, or if not permitted by your insurance plan and our contract with them.
